ASSH 2019 – Conference Report

The members of Manu Amici attended the ASSH 2019 in Las Vegas for another successful conference! Highlights and pics from the conference include the following: Orrin Franko presented at the Residents and Fellows Conference about "Private Practice Pearls," highlighting the benefits of online marketing and patient demographic analysis to "supercharge" practice growth as a young surgeon. The 6th Annual Mentorship Happy Hour was a HUGE success with over 60 residents and fellows attending the event. Hosted at the Caesar's Palace Hospitality Suite, the event provided a space for trainees to ask questions about jobs, boards, contracts, and anything else related to starting practice as a surgeon. There was plenty of food and drinks to go around and we had a great time. We thank TriMed for their continued sponsorship of this event. Vietnam Hand Surgery Trip – 2019 Summary

Touching Hands Project: Da Nang, Vietnam Trip Summary: • Team: 3 hand surgeons, 1 foot surgeon, 1 PA, 3 CRNAs, 4 podiatry residents (12 person team, which made it the largest team that has ever been on this trip). • Total of 63 procedures completed this trip (double the amount from the year before). • Set hospital record for the most surgeries ever completed in a single day at that hospital on Wednesday (14 procedures), then proceeded to break our own record on Thursday for a total of 24 procedures completed on that day. • Worked directly side-by-side with every member of the local Vietnamese surgical team, with teaching as the primary focus of the trip. • More than half of the procedures were on children born with birth defects. • Introduced 3 specialized hand surgeries that are routine in the US but have never been done at the hospital (or in that region of the country for that matter). • Treated polydactyly, syndactyly, macrodactyly and thumb...

Milwaukee 2019 – Trip Report

The 2019 Manu Amici annual meeting was hosted by Dr. Laith Al-Shihabi and his wife, Dr. Amina Merchant, in their town of Milwaukee. The trip was a HUGE success and widely regarded as the "best Manu meeting to date." For confirmation, just check out the itinerary! In addition to exceptionally great food throughout the weekend, every detailed was planned to perfection including an AirBNB for families to share, access to a party room throughout the weekend, lake time for the kids, and "mommy time" at the spa. Dr. Al-Shihabi also had the opportunity to give a tour of his excellent practice: Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin. The photos speak for themselves.
